--The Strength of the team is each individual member.  The strength of each member is the team--

What a great weekend of hockey as the Atom LL team represented Shelburne Minor Hockey at the Haliburton/Minden Regional Silver Stick.

The wolves hit the ice Saturday morning at 10 for their 1st of 3 games facing the Lakefield Chiefs with only one loss all season the wolves knew it would be a hard fought game.  The wolves forward, Lester put one on the score board 1st and followed with 2 more getting himself a hat trick.  The wolves kept the lead the entire game.  The Chiefs pulled their goalie in the last minute and half and the pressure was on.  Although netminder Carson-Pedri blocked two crazy shots in the dying minute a final deflection off a skate found the back of the net and tied the game with 11.5 seconds to go.

The 2nd game was against an undefeated Havelock Team.  The wolves knew it was going to be a tough battle but they were ready to play.  They came out ready for the challenge and never gave up.  Lester was the lone goal scorer finding the back of the net twice.  It was a game of hard work and determination but the wolves fell short.  The netminder Harris kept the wolves in the game with some outstanding saves right from puck drop but the team just ran out of time to fire back.

In game 3, the wolves found themselves in a situation of win or go home against the Noble King Knights. But as it would turn out even though they played an outstanding game and came out victorious with a score of 5-1,  the win still left them one point short to move on to the Semi Finals.  Lester, Hofstede and Park were contributors on the scoreboard but Brown was a force to be reckoned with every shift he was on the ice.  He rushed the puck and back checked like a champ.

As this team came away from the SILVER STICK they had an impressive record of 1-1-1 against some very tough teams.  This tournament solidified what an impressive group of players we have and that although they may be small in size they are big in heart.

Congrats to all the Atom LL players and Coaches for a great tournament and representing Shelburne Minor Hockey with good sportsmanship and respect for the game!!

GO WOLVES GO!!
