2019-2020 SMHA REP Tryout Process:

- Rep Tryout Fees:  $15/tryout, payable before each tryout.
- Rep Tryout Dates:  Will be hosted in mid-September with dates to be posted to SMHA website by August 30, 2019.
- Rep Tryout Obligations: ALL registration, fundraising and tryout fees must be paid prior to a player stepping on the ice.
- Rep Tryout Attendance:  Players must attend a minimum of one of the first two sessions.
                              Except in the event of extenuating circumstances which must be approved by the Coach in Chief                                         and SMHA Board of Directors.

2019-2020 SMHA AE Tryout Process:
- AE Tryouts:  Should an AE (Additional Entry) Rep team be fielded in any division, a player must first tryout and be cut by the Rep team to be eligible to tryout for AE.
- AE Tryout Fees:  There is no fee for AE tryouts as players have already paid for Rep tryouts.
- AE Tryout Dates:  Tryouts (if applicable) will be held 1 week following the last Rep tryout and team selection.
- AE Tryout Obligations:  ALL registration, fundraising and tryout fees must be paid prior to a player stepping on the ice.

2019-2020 SMHA  Rep/AE Player Evaluation and Selection Process:
- Players will be evaluated by the team's Head Coach as well as 2 other non-parent/team affiliated evaluators
- Non-parent evaluators can include but is not limited to: Coach in Chief and/or a third party selected by the Head Coach and approved by the Coach in Chief and/or SMHA Board of Directors).  

The following list demonstrates how players will be evaluated. Player selection will be based on but not limited to:
-      Player attitude, effort and commitment
-      Past Performance/Experience
-      Merit (skill & ability)
-      Try-out evaluation
-      Team Tactics
**Team selection will be made by the Head Coach (Co-Coach where applicable) and final selection must be approved by the Coach in Chief and/or the OMHA Director.

Player Selection Process:
- Upon completion of the 3rd session (Novice to Peewee) or 4th session (Bantam & Midget), Head Coaches will notify all players in person and accompanied by a written letter if they are being offered a position on the Rep team.  
Players are required to have 1 adult/parent present when meeting with the Coach for any cuts or player selection.
- Upon in person player meeting, a member of the SMHA Executive must be present
- In the event that the Head Coach has not reached a decision at the conclusion of tryouts, the player(s) will be notified by phone within 24 hours.
- Coaches shall submit their full roster to the OMHA Director within 48 hours of completion of the final session.

Rep Tryout Eligibility for 2019-2020 Season:
- Players are eligible to tryout for their respective/registered age group or for a Rep team that is 1 level higher than their current age group:  Examples below:
- Tyke aged (2011 birth year only) player can tryout for Novice Rep
- Novice aged player can tryout for Atom Rep
- Atom aged player can tryout for Peewee Rep
- Peewee aged player can tryout for Bantam Rep
- Bantam aged player can tryout for Midget Rep
Please note any of the above items may waived by SMHA executive due to operational requirements in the best interests of the association.

- Tryouts will consist of 3 on ice sessions;
- No cuts will be made until after the second tryout;
Team Selection will occur after the 3rd session

- Tryouts will consist of 1 Body Checking Clinic and 3 additional on-ice sessions;
- Body Checking Clinic (1st skate) is mandatory for anyone not having already completed the course;
- No cuts will be made until after the Body Checking Clinic and first 2 tryouts;
Team Selection will occur after the 4th session (body contact clinic and 3 tryouts)
