Shelburne Minor Hockey recently lost one of its most valued and committed members; with the passing of Coach Chris Reed. Chris was not only a long-standing coach within the Shelburne Minor Hockey system but, he was also a former player, ref, and friend to many. Chris' love, passion, and knowledge for the game of hockey, combined with his winning spirit, will be deeply missed.
While his accomplishments in both athletics and life are ones of measure, his legacy will last in all the young lives he influenced in his years of coaching. Those who coached with him and played for him know that his greatness was rooted in a genuine belief that it was his responsibility to make all those around him better. For each and every player in his care, it was his responsibility to teach them, protect them, and have them leave the season stronger, braver, and bolder.
Since his diagnosis with Leukemia, Chris fought his sickness with the tenacity of a warrior. The mental strength he demonstrated was a further testament to his character and unbreakable spirit. So if Coach Chris left us with one last lesson it is this; love your family with a full heart, always be there for your friends and, from the moment the puck drops give all the blood, sweat, and tears you have to give...and fight the 'hard fight' to the final buzzer.
With all our love and condolences to The Reeds
