Game Summary: Our boys got off to a good start in the 1st period, controlling the play early and being the more aggressive team, but failing to find the back of the net. A costly turnover and a good shot by the Hawks saw our boys down 1-0 after the 1st. A quick goal by the Hawks in the 2nd saw us down 2-0 before Gally scored a nice goal to bring us back within 1. The rest of the 2nd period was all Hawks as they scored 2 more, to take a 4-1 lead going into the 3rd period. A couple of bad bounces saw the Hawks score 2 more goals early in the 3rd period to take a commanding 6-1 lead before our boys battled back and managed to score 2 quick ones of our own to make it 6-3. Definitely not our best game but I am happy with the way our boys fought this weekend.

Both Saturday and Sunday we found ourselves trailing going into the 3rd period. Earlier in the year, you would see the boys get discouraged, put their heads down and just go through the motions for the rest of the game. In both games the boys fought through it, believed they could still win and kept going. It's easy to lose track sometimes as coaches that these boys are just 9-10 years old and we sometimes set high expectations, but we have seen what they are capable of and will always demand 100% all the time, even though that may not always be realistic. It's also encouraging to see the progress they are making on the ice (positional play, skill development and systems), with the preparation before games (warm-up, stretching and strategy) and mental toughness/focus during games. These skills will be valuable as they continue down the path of their hockey journey/careers.

Go Wolves !!!
