Allan Nixon Tyke Tournament

In the 2013/2014 season, the SMHA Board approved that the annual Tyke Tournament be officially named as the Allan Nixon Memorial Tyke Tournament. Allan was a long-time area resident, a player, a coach, a volunteer, a father, a husband and a grandfather. While many may have had the pleasure of knowing Allan personally, we all know many around us that give for the benefit of others. The tournament now serves as reminder to honour and remember those that have made a positive and lasting impression in our community as others now do with our own young players.
The primary objective for the day is for all our Tyke age players to have fun. But, we are also pleased to let you know that any profits that may be made during the day’s event will also be donated in Allan’s name to KIDSPORT Canada. These funds are then made available to local area families who may require assistance for their children to participate in local minor sports.
